November Roundtable Website.jpg

Guest Speaker: Labao Wang, Director, Australia-China Institute for Arts and Culture

"Face is the core of Chinese culture. If you understand and master it, you can get whatever you want in China" Lu Xun

Some westerners have been told that it can be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to work with Chinese people due to a common misunderstanding about the concept of "Face". According to Professor Labao Wang, Director, Australia-China Institute for Arts and Culture at Western Sydney University, we shouldn't be held back by this myth.

In this thoughtful and engaging session, we will learn more about how "Face" plays such an important part in business and social interactions, and how we can learn from the mistakes of others

Protecting Your IP and Patents in China

Protecting Your IP and Patents in China - Weebsite.jpg

Guest Speaker: Scott Bouvier, Partner, King & Wood Mallesons

Everyone worries about protecting their IP in China but very few go to the trouble of registering their patent(s), brand and IP before they start talking to potential investors, business partners and customers.

As the head of KWM’s Intellectual Property practice, Scott Bouvier is highly experienced in advising and assisting Australian and China companies with their IP issues in China and throughout the world, and he works with his Chinese based partners to ensure that patents are properly registered and enforced. He will guide us through the process, explain the costs of protecting your IP and provide examples of where foreign IP has been successfully enforced.
